Can i replace my phone?

My blackberry storm that i got in june has been acting up.the other day i got it checked at a verizon kisosk, but they cant replace it.tho they sed it was defective and verizon should replace it in store….the problem is that my grandfather is signed on the contract and hes in the philippines for about a month…i have his credentials will verizon let me repace it in store without him?
